Layne and I have literally been trying to prepare Kennedy for baptism for years. When she was 2 we taught her about baptism and took her to one of her cousins baptisms. We excitedly told her that when she turned 8 she could be baptized too. She adamantly told us that she would NOT be baptized. This went on for at least three years and Layne and I started feeling like we were failing as parents. (Either that or we were raising a devil child). Finally when Kennedy was 5 she admitted that the only reason she didn't want to be baptized was because she was scared of going under the water. So, some swimming lessons and a few years of growing up and she has been excited to be baptized. She did say the morning of her baptism that she was a little nervous....she gets embarassed easily. It turned out great. Layne and I, and a few others that know and love Kennedy, got really choked up. We are so proud of who Kennedy is and the choices she is making. We know she wants to do what's right and that she has a testimony of the gospel. It's a pretty important and amazing thing to see your child be baptized. We love you, Kennedy!
I am a lucky stay-at-home mom with 3 cute kids and one great husband. I love to create things: cards, cookies, scrapbooks and quilts are some favorites. I enjoy reading a good book and love to nap, but mostly love to be with my family.
11-29-12 We bought some apple cider awhile back. I guess it reminded Hyrum of herbal tea. He's been asking for "Gerbil Tea" so now the whole family refers to apple cider as gerbil tea! Sounds appetizing, doesn't it?
11-19-12 The family was discussing where we could put our Christmas Tree this year and I suggested in the kitchen...so we could have a 20 foot tall tree. Matt didn't like that idea and said, "I do know people that do that, but they're French." I guess that means we can't do that.
11-10-12 Hyrum told me yesterday that I should have named him "Bill". He said that all "Bills" are nice and that would have been a good name. I asked him who he knew named Bill and he said, "no one". Man, Layne and I really screwed up!
11-8-12 Hyrum says in his best vampire voice, "I want to suck your blood. That is in French and it means 'hello'."
10-2-12 As we were running errands I said to Hyrum, "I sure love you." He replied, "Why do you love me? I'm not THAT sweet?"
8-26-12 Hyrum hid behind the couch and then popped out and asked if he scared the "wickens" out of me. I'm guessing he is combining "wits" and "dickens"??

I'm having a hard time believing she is already 8! You guys have been gone that long already? We miss you being next door.
It is a very wonderful experience to see your child get baptized indeed! What a sweet little miss :)
