Independence

The kids have been writing letters to their cousins lately.....and waiting for me to mail them.  Last Thursday they were begging for me to get the letters in the mail, but I didn't feel well and for some reason there is no drop box at the mailbox right by our house; it's down the street.  So, I decided that the kids were old enough to cross the street together and walk down to the drop box.  They were so excited and like the nervous mom I had to stand out on the driveway and watch them go.  Kennedy is such a good big sister and Matt is very cautious.   I was proud of them, but sort of sad....they can cross the street alone, they are gowing up.  Don't get me wrong, their independence is very nice, but just makes me realize how short life is.
