I love to craft....sometimes I actually crave making something, almost as much as I crave chocolate. So, here are a few crafting projects I've been working on. I have to post them for 2 reasons. 1) I have been talking about them for awhile and I'm sure those I've mentioned them to want to see the end product and 2) Once you've finished a project and think it's soo cute or the fabric is just perfect, etc, you really want someone to say, "wow, that is so cute" or "yep, that fabric is perfect". Well, there aint a lot of that going on around here. Layne got the "yep" part of the sentence when I showed him something and that was it. He just doesn't get it....sort of how I don't get how a semi-truck can be beautiful, but when he points out that one is beautiful I try to say, "yep" and act like I get it, but I'm thinking, "I don't get it."
This is a little bag that clips onto my camera so I have a place to put my lens cap when I take it off. |
This is a scrappy camera strap cover. I don't think my husband has seen it yet.....not much chance he'll ever want to use my camera again - he already felt like a dork with the black strap around his neck. I don't mind if he doesn't use my camera.....except every once in a while I want him to get a picture of me with the kids. Can't wait to hear my brother/father's comments about I ruined a perfectly good camera strap. Oh well...it's cute, right?
I have had a styrofoam wreath waiting in my craft room for at least a year to be made into something adorable. I really wanted a 4th of July wreath. 150+ felt rosettes and 8 hours later, I had one!! I have to say that Kennedy was a HUGE help with this project. I cut out the rosettes and she rolled them perfectly and then I glued them on. My only disappointment with this project was realizing half way through that the outside of my front door is red and this wreath looks ridiculous on it....so it's hanging on the INSIDE of my door. Oh well. I am planning on switching the ribbon to pink or white for Valentine's Day.
Remember my ornament wreath that fell to it's death? I got a pool noodle at the dollar store, formed it into a cirlce and duct taped it together. I covered it with red fabric and hot glued those ornaments back on. It worked pretty good....it's not done though as a pool noodle made wreath turns out a bit bigger than your average wreath. I ran out of ornaments. Hopefully when Christmas rolls around the dollar store will have some matching ornaments I can use to finish it. At least the ornaments aren't rolling around on my craft room floor anymore.
I thought this photo gave a better idea of just how big the wreath turned out.
In an attempt to organize my craft room, I realized I needed a place to put my thread. Since we are on a strict budget I needed to make something. Layne gave me this idea and I happened to have the block of wood and wooden dowels on hand. I am pleased to say that I did this project 100% by myself including the drilling. Layne did compliment me on the project itself (probably because it has a use - he didn't comment on the mod podge flower part).
This a car seat canopy I made for my sis-in-law....I LOVE this fabric!!! I found the actual tutorial here at Sew Much Ado.
Notice the little bag hooked onto the handle? Yes, it's one of those lens cap bags from before, but I got to thinking it is probably the perfect size for a binky. She can clip it on the handle or onto her diaper bag or purse. Layne did think that was ingenius. His exact words were, "I would have killed for something like that when we had babies. First you would know where your binky is and second it would be clean."
You can't really see, but where the panels meet there is a very slight gather. I would have liked it even more gathered, but it would have used way more fabric.
I hooked it to one of my kitchen chairs so you could sort of see just how cute it would look on an actually car seat since I sadly don't have a baby carrier anymore.
This is the back of the canopy. I am thinking I may need to make fabric flowers to go on top of each strap. What do you think? Mostly I was already thinking that my brother may want to kill me for making him tote around a baby carrier that looks so girly...he might not appreciate the added flowers, but come on, there WILL be a baby girl inside it.
