Layne has been casually talking about buying Matthew a motorcycle for years...literally, he took me to the bike shop when Matt was almost 4 and tried to convince me to buy him a bike. He knows that I'm not keen on the idea. Well, some guy gave Layne a little electric motorcycle because it doesn't really work and he was going to throw it away. Layne thought for sure he could fix it, brought it home and Matt was in heaven sitting on a broken down bike. One of my husband's strengths is NOT patience. He started ordering a few parts on-line to fix up the bike, but in the mean time wanted a bike that worked. The next day he went to look at dirt bikes. Then he took Matt with him to "look" at dirt bikes. I knew he was going to buy one and he did! Layne had just as much fun as the kids riding the little thing around our backyard. Luckily for me, Matthew just witnessed his cousin get injured on a motorcycle and refuses to ride the bike alone. I give him at least another year or more until he feel comfortable to ride. Kennedy went around with Layne a few times, but refused to go very fast. I think Layne is disappointed that the kids don't want to ride it more. They chose to go to the zoo today instead of going to the mountains to ride the dirt bike. Thus, the title of my post, "Dad's New Toy". The good news is that his irresponsible spending is giving me leverage to get a few things I've been wanting for some time like a camera and a piano.
