I saw a tutorial for these adorable white, cotton, flowy skirts and thought, "I can make one for Kennedy." Then I thought, "and one for myself as well." Hmmm.....I should have known when I had to buy 3+ yards of 108" wide fabric that I was getting myself into something I might not like.
I spent an entire evening cutting and ironing the edges to be hemmed.....wishing that I had a surger so I could have skipped that step. I spent at least 3 more evenings gathering long strips of fabric and trying to evenly pin and then sew them in place. (The last strip one my skirt measured 171 inches!!) They are both lined so you don't have to wear a slip with them and I must say the lining was a breeze after all that gathering and pinning.
About midway through, I was whining to my mom about "how long should it really take to make a couple of skirts?" She pointed out that it was really like making several skirts since there were so many layers. Duh!!!! I was so tempted to just call it quits when Kennedy's was finally done, but I decided to persevere.
I now have a new summer skirt (too bad summer is coming to a close) that matches little K's. After looking at these photos, I am thinking that this skirt was meant for someone with not so many "curves" as myself.

Some of us would kill for your "curves". I love mom and daughter look alike outfits.
