I love REAL Christmas trees but I hate how much they cost. My friend told me that you could get an inexpensive tree permit, so on Saturday we headed up the mountain. We drove up near Swan Valley and I was envisioning us stepping out of the truck and cutting a tree near the road. Well, Layne found a little trail off the beaten path and was not concerned about crossing a frozen creek and hiking up the side of the mountain with three small children. (If you look in the bottom right hand photo in the first set of photos, you can sort of get an idea of how high we hiked.....you can see the truck looking very tiny at the bottom and you can see the frozen creek we crossed.) Minus Matthew whining the entire time we hiked, it was a good trip and we have a great tree. I think we might make this a new family tradition.

Way to go guys! What an incredible story on obtaining that tall sucker. I think you'll definitely enjoy it a lot more than any old imposter, pre-lit, just take out of the box and your done type of tree :) Plus, now you have snow boots to boot (okay, that was a sad joke).
I'm still trying to twist Caleb's arm into going this Saturday, honestly, is it really that big of a deal to go??? Goodness
