The bad news is that my the belt on my vacuum cleaner started melting last week.....my vacuum was making a high-pitched squeal and smoking. I was secretly hoping for a new vacuum cleaner since we got this when we got married almost exactly 10 years ago. But, my husband informed me that he could replace the belt on it and we could get a few more years out of it.
The good news is that my husband went looking for a new belt last night after 7:00 (well after vacuum cleaner stores are closed). He went to Lowe's and couldn't find a belt that was the right size, so......he bought me a new vacuum!!! It's nothing fancy, but can I just say that the technology in the last 10 years has come a long way!! My vacuum lights up on the front, you can turn it on with your foot, it has a cord rewind, AND you can see the dirt you're sucking up and empty it easily. Yes, I was living in the dark ages and I have arrived!!
There is more good news.....after vacuuming for all of 2 minutes, my husband saw how much dirt was already being sucked up and wanted to try it out it for himself. He was so
disgusted amazed at the quantity of dirt and lint that he vacuumed the entire house just to see how much dirt he could get. I'm glad I'm a nice enough wife to share my new "power tool" with my husband. This really is maybe the second time Layne's vacuumed since we got married....not that he's one of those husbands that doesn't help around the house....he is a great dishwasher and sweeper, he just hasn't been interested in vacuuming until now.....we'll see if it lasts. Happy Day for me!!! My house feels extra clean.

Maybe he'd like to enjoy the fun and amazing washer, dryer, duster, and steam iron. And if he doesn't get his fill of fun at your house he could come and have some fun at mine.
You know you're an official parent when things like a new vacuum completely make your day. We've got a real piecer (is that a word?). So, when that day comes, I know I'm going to have a party to celebrate.
