A Restful, Fun Weekend

Since our anniversary trip isn't going to pan out, I talked my mom into taking the kids for the weekend so Layne and I could still get a break and do something fun in celebration of our 8 year anniversary (which is actually March 24th).

We dropped our excited kids off in Pocatello around 5:00 on Friday evening. They were thrilled to be staying at grandma's and frankly I think we ALL needed a break from each other. Layne and I then went to Red Lobster's for dinner. Might I recommend the "Lobster Nachos". I pretty much liked them better than my actual meal, maybe because I was stuffed full of them by the time my meal came. Anyway, then we went and saw "Mall Cop" which I have to say looked pretty dumb, but was sooo funny and CLEAN! HOORAY!

Saturday morning I slept in until 8:30am!! Yes, that is sleeping in and it hasn't happened in months and months. It was so nice. Saturday we mostly ran some errands and went shopping. We did eat out for brunch and dinner, but afterwards was really wishing we had just gone back to Red Lobster for more Lobster Nachos.

We went to church with the kids in Pocatello and brought them home tonight. I'm so glad my parents were willing to take the kids for a few days so we could get a break. It was so nice and YES, we did miss our kids. In fact, this photo (above) popped up on my screen saver the other day and I just had to share....it's a good reminder of why being a parent is so great. It's Matthew when he was about 21 months old. Isn't he adorable......he was basically a perfect child up until this point, but even with his faults I still adore him and all of my children.....life would be lonely without them.

I love Red Lobster and will have to try the Nachos next time. Happy Anniversary and I'm glad you got away for a little bit.
