When I went to pick up Kennedy from kindergarten yesterday, she seemed kind of glum. She was hanging her head and just seemed upset about something. I asked her how school was and she unconvincingly said, "good". I asked her if anything exciting happened at school and she said, "No, but something NOT exciting happened at school today." When I asked her what it was she said that her teacher had told them that there would probably be all-day kindergarten next year. My heart sank as I thought about sending my little Matthew ALL day but I was having a hard time understanding why
she was upset about this, so I asked. Through teary eyes she said, "I'm gonna miss Mattie if he's gone to school all day." So, I explained that she would also be in school all day next year. She started crying more and said that she would miss me and her brothers too much. I reminded her how exciting it would be to eat lunch at school and take her own lunch box. To which she replied, "I love you much more than a lunchbox, mom." It is nice to feel loved......I really hope they don't change it to all-day kindergarten. (Even if it is a bit of a pain in the neck to pick them up 2 1/2 short hours after dropping them off.) I want my babies home a little longer.
