Wow, it's been quite a week and it's really not even over yet. Here's what this week entailed.....Monday was a beautiful day, not that warm, but not cold. We dropped Kennedy off to her dance class and the boys and I walked to the park up the street. They were thrilled to be outside and not waiting in the dance studio. The kids played outside while Layne mowed the lawn.
Matthew loves to be with his dad even if it's mowing the lawn.
Monday night we had Family Home Evening which the kids always enjoy. Tuesday the boys helped me get the groceries. As soon as we got home, the phone rang. It was the school informing me that there was a stray dog out on the playground that jumped on Kennedy and licked her face. Kennedy told her teacher she was allergic and within a few minutes her face was already turning red and starting to swell. So we went and picked her up early. I was under the impression that this dog that licked her was a big dog because Kennedy said it could jump up the really big stairs to the slide and it even went down the slide. She said that lots of kids were screaming, but she wasn't really afraid of the dog until she fell and the dog jumped on top of her and started licking her face. (I can only imagine the pandemonium on the playground!) Later that night Kennedy was still talking about the whole thing and she said the dog looked just like from Curious George the cartoon. Okay....it was a dachshund...or in other words, a weiner dog!!! I laughed soo hard! Here I was envisioning a doberman pincher or something!! We got her some benedryl and the swelling went down in an hour or so and bonus, Kennedy had a great nap! Later we did some cleaning and then I went visiting teaching.
On Wednesday, we started preparations for Kennedy's "Flower Party". We don't really do birthday parties and Kennedy has gone to tons of parties in the last six months, so she's been begging to do a Spring Party. I think she may have enjoyed the planning process more than the actual party!!
Kennedy got most of her recipes from her "Princess Cook Book". Notice the cute cups with pink sugar around the rims.....we just put a little orange juice around the top of the cups and dipped them in pink sugar crystals. The girls LOVED it!!
Kennedy helped me make flower jello jigglers. It was her idea to cut out a middle and fill it with a different color. Cute. Then we made fruit cups which are basically a pastry with chocolate and fruit.
Kennedy and I had a good time cooking and Matthew had a good nap!
Wednesday night I headed to my book club. Good times.
Thursday morning my friend watched the boys so I could help at the school. Then we came home and got ready for the big party!! We invited 9 girls to the party. I figured that 6 or 7 would show up....wrong, all of them came!! They really are a bunch of cute girls.....Matthew LOVED all of them.
Lily, Kennedy and Ellie......notice their adorable pots they painted!
Takoya and Emily.
Brinlee
Hyrum loved the punch!
Matthew, Aria and Mattea
Zoe
Aria, Mattea, Julie and Makenna
I think it turned out to be a fun day....a little crazy at times, but good. I was so grateful that my friend Marci came to help out and I didn't feel completely outnumbered. It sure would have been easier had I been able to send them outside, but alas, it was snowing!! Welcome to Idaho.
It feels like Friday to me, but we still have Matthew's soccer tomorrow night.....never a dull moment!
