5 Years Ago Today....

.....I was headed to the hospital in Mesquite for a c-section with baby #2.  I know some people think that having a c-section is cheating when it comes to having babies, but the only good thing that I can see from it is that you do know WHEN your baby is coming (which for someone like me, who thoroughly enjoys planning,  is very nice).  Other than that, it is still giving birth in some form and still not fun.  I was very nervous going to the hospital that morning because I felt fine and somehow getting cut open when you feel just fine as opposed to having been in labor and feeling like "I don't care what you do, just get this baby out of me", makes one very uncomfortable and edgy.

Luckily, everything went smoothly and within a few hours after arriving at the hospital we had our adorable little Matthew.  It's funny because he only weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz., but that made him 1lb.6 oz. heavier than Kennedy was at birth and he looked gigantic to us!!   Shortly after we got settled in our room, my mom brought Kennedy (who was 18 months old) up to meet her baby brother.  I knew I could love another baby as much as the first, but I had no idea the amount of joy it would bring me to watch the love between my children.  Kennedy held him and then found his toes, then tried to find his hands, but couldn't because he was wearing a huge, long-sleeved onsie.  Then he started fussing and Kennedy patted him gently and tried to tell him it was okay.  Too sweet.

I remember feeling bad when my mom had to leave and Kennedy was so upset, but then my mom called to tell me that they had stopped and gotten french fries and Kennedy was just fine.

Kennedy and Matt-woo are generally inseparable even if they aren't getting along, they are always together.

I love this picture because we all look completely exhausted......except Kennedy....isn't that the way it goes?

Anyway, we feel so blessed to have Matthew as a part of our family.  From the first week of his life he has been a happy, smiley little thing that loves to interact with other people!!  He was probably dying to talk when he was a small baby as we cannot go ANYWHERE without Matt wanting to strike up a conversation with someone.  Matt is good for me.  He gets me out of my comfort zone and stretches me to be a better person.  Happy Birthday, Matthew!
