The other day I was smashing ants in the bathroom (cursing them while I did it) and wiping them up with toilet paper and flushing them down the toilet. Kennedy saw me and said, "Mom, don't you think you could nicely scoop the ants up and take them outside to live." That is sooo Kennedy. I told her that she could be in charge of saving the ants, so sure enough I've seen her rescue a half a dozen or more. She LOVES animals and since we have no pets, she has been treating her 20+ stuffed animals as live pets. She towed around a stuffed alligator (which she named Sparkles) on a leash for a few weeks. She now has a new squirrel. She is very protective of her animals and tucks them all into bed with her every night.
Kennedy's two front teeth (on the top) have been loose for at least three months. But she's not ready for them to fall out yet. She cries if I even mention that they will fall out whether she's ready or not. Consequently, she has only been chewing with the teeth on the sides, so her face ends up excessively messy! She is my super sensitive girl.
Matthew has grown by leaps and bounds as far as maturity the past three months. He is so excited to start school and I think he is ready! (I'm not, but that's okay.) The other day at swimming lessons, he told a lady next to us that he would be starting kindergarten soon. She asked him what Hyrum would do all alone while he was at school. Matthew replied, "All of the shopping and boring stuff." Nice.
The other morning while I was cleaning up, the boys wanted to go out on the driveway to ride their bikes. I told Matthew that he would have to be in charge of Hyrum and make sure he didn't ride in the street. I, of course, kept looking out the window to check on them, but Matt actually paid attention to Hyrum and kept him out of the street.
Matthew has been very helpful lately. I was sick a few Sundays ago, so when the kids got home from church, I was still in bed. Matthew came running up and said, "Mom, since you're sick, you get lunch in bed, what do you want to eat?" I told him all I really wanted was a glass of water. He raced downstairs and got me a cup of water and brought it up. What a sweet boy.
This little guy is not so little anymore. He was riding his bike down our neighbors driveway (which is on a hill) as fast as he could and thought it was the greatest thing ever. He totally wiped out at the bottom, but got right back on his bike and headed to the top of the driveway for another run.
If he's not riding his bike, he is toting around his cars or trucks. He has to line up his hot wheels next to his pillow at naptime and bedtime. He is content if he has a car, truck, motorcycle or helicopter in hand.....usually it's four or five in his hands.
I can't get enough of kissing his chubby cheeks. All day long I tease him that I'm going to kiss his face off. He'll say, "No, mom, no tiss my face off!" However, at bedtime, to stall, he will insist that he needs more kisses. "Come back, " he'll say, "I need more tisses." CUTE!
