A Bad Guy Sandwich

Yesterday, Kennedy had a little choir concert at school.  She has a girl in her class that is constantly in trouble and forever bugging Kennedy.  She is loud and rude and Kennedy has had to sit right next to her for the past 3 months of school.  This girl is a bully and has had Kennedy in tears more than once this year.  Well, for the performance she had to stand right next to this girl that she struggles with.  For one of their songs, they were to wave a scarf around their heads.  The girl standing next to Kennedy got a little excited about waving her scarf and consequently kept whacking Kennedy in the head.  I could tell Kennedy was frustrated, but she just grimaced and kept on singing.  After school I told her that her program was great and it was fun to watch.  "Ya, except Journey kept hitting me in the head while she was waving her scarf around," she said.  I tried to comfort her and tell her that she wasn't hitting her on purpose.  Then Kennedy pointed out that the boy on the other side of her was a boy that called her a name during the first week of school.  Then she says, "As a matter of fact, I was in the middle of a bad guy sandwich."  Ha Ha Ha......I had to seriously contain myself from busting up because it is NOT funny to Kennedy at all.  I keep telling Kennedy that if she can put up with Journey for the rest of first grade, she'll be able to endure most anything in life.  I hope it gets better, though.

Here's Kennedy right smack in the middle of a "bad guy sandwich" with the infamous scarves no less.

What a SPECIAL little girl you have. This story just makes me want to hug her. I'll do just that this weekend!
