Matthew's Debut

A few weeks ago, Matt came home from school asking if I got the invitation.  "Invitation to what?" I asked.  "To my music performance," he said.  I told him I hadn't and he seemed very concerned.  I asked him when it was and he wasn't sure.  Then he said he'd be right back, went into the bathroom and closed the door.  Then I heard him singing, "Itsy Bitsy Spider".  When he came back I asked what he was doing.  "Oh, nothing, it's a surprise," he said.

So, when I finally got the invitation telling when it would be I was so excited (although still sick).  I told him that the note said he had to wear something nice and I suggested he wear his church clothes.  He didn't really like that idea.  He said he was going to eat a hundred candies so he'd be sick and wouldn't have to wear his church clothes for the program.  Finally I convinced him that he could wear jeans with a button-up shirt.
Their performance was very cute.  They did quite a few songs and then a few dances.....The Monster Mash and the Locomotion.  Unfortunately, I couldn't see him during most of the dances as the teacher had them spread out and the tallest girl in the class (who is literally almost as tall as I am) ended up in front of him the entire time.  I'm glad I dragged my sorry-sick-self to see it.
