After dinner, I noticed that my Christmas ornament wreath I made a few years ago was still up above my pantry. I put it up there using our 9 foot ladder and I was being lazy about not wanting to bring the ladder in to take it down. Let me preface this story by telling how making this simple looking wreath was quite the chore. I roped my mom and sister into making them too because it was "so easy". Well, first we hot glued the hook part on the top so it wouldn't pop off....we hot glued HUNDREDS of ornaments. Then we started threading them onto a wire hanger that was formed in a sorry-looking circle. That seemed easy enough, but it was kind of hard to get each ornament to lay right and look right, etc. When they were all threaded on, there were a few bare spots so we hot glued some ornaments on top of the others. Last year, I hung my wreath outside and everytime my front door slammed, an ornament would pop off. This year, I hung the wreath in a safer spot, above my pantry. When I got it up, I noticed there were a few bare spots so I climbed my ladder with my glue gun in hand and glued more ornaments on while it was hanging. I thought was pretty cute. Okay.....so, yesterday I asked Layne if he could stand on a chair to get it down for me. He was having a hard time getting it off because I had tied it around the hook holding it. I told him to get some scissors which he did, but then he didn't have enough hands to hold onto the thing as it fell to the ground. CRASH. My beautiful creation lost about 25 ornaments or more and it looks so sad. The top of the ornaments are plastic and they just cracked where they are threaded through the wire, so I don't think there's a way to salvage it. Yes, I'm bummed.
the wreath before the accident
As if we hadn't had enough broken things for the day, we got ready to go to the Adult Meeting for Stake Conference and couldn't get the garage door to open....thus we couldn't get our cars out. Layne tried using the emerency cord and got it part way up, then it came crashing down and the bottom part of the door isn't even on track. By some miracle, we got it up all the way and Layne held it up while I backed both cars out, then it crashed back down and looks very broken. We went ahead to our meeting and Layne said he'd look at it on Monday.
It was quite the eventful day....I think it's funny that my ornament wreath is a bigger deal to me than either of the other disasters. Mostly I'm grateful that we own our own house in which a pipe could break and that I have a husband who could fix it. I'm grateful that we have a warm garage to keep our cars in and that we have the money to fix it. I'm grateful that I even have time to make things like ornament wreaths and that I spent a frustrating but fun afternoon with my mom and sister. I'm sure they'll want to get together and make more of them! HA...my mom still curses her wreath! Oh well, the point is, we are blessed and I am sooo grateful for my many blessings.

That is an adorable wreath! If you hadn't said such wonderful things about it I would say I wanted to make one too! :)
Ugh about the home repairs, when it rains it pours! And they always say bad things happen in 3's
But glad to know you aren't too in the dumps about it!
