Kennedy's Talk

Kennedy had to give a talk on service last week. I started her out with the scripture, she helped me think of ways our family serves and I typed it up. Then I started helping her try to memorize it. She can't read yet, but insisted that she need to have some notes to help her. So, here is the talk I typed and below that is a photo of the paper she used to give the talk. I had to prompt her a few times, but mostly she did it alone using her "notes".

How My Family Can Serve

Mosiah 2:17 tells us, “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God.” This means that when we serve one another, we are really serving God. There are lots of ways that we can serve each other.
Our neighbor, Charlie, lives all alone. Last Christmas our family made him some cookies and I drew him a special picture. We delivered them to his house on Christmas day. He looked so happy. Sometimes serving other people is just trying to make them smile.
Another way our family tries to serve is by helping each other. One day while my mom was trying to get breakfast ready, my baby brother started crying. I knew that he just wanted someone to feed him his oatmeal. So, I started feeding it to him. This made my mom very happy.
When I got my tonsils out, my mom served me by taking care of me because I felt sick. She gave me lots of popsicles and held me when I wanted to be held.
When we serve others, we make them happy, we feel happy and Heavenly Father is happy too. I know that we should love and serve each other.

This just brings tears to my eyes. To see that she really gets it at such a young age gives me much hope for the future of our children. A proud Grandma:-)
