The Life of a Man

I just got an email from Layne.  I guess it was supposed to be letting me know that indeed he had gotten March 12th off so we can celebrate our anniversary (which is actually the 24th, but Layne will be out of town).  Anyway, the email struck me funny because it was such a "guy" email and it was sooo Layne.  He forwarded the email from his boss (who is female) which said, "Please! Enjoy your day!!  And don't think about us!!!"  Then it shows what Layne had sent his boss.  It simply said "vacation 3/12/10"   I don't know why, but it just made me laugh.

Yes, Layne is a man of few words.  He HATES talking on the phone and cannot for the life of him figure out how I can spend as much time on the phone as I do.  I'm glad his boss understood his email to mean he will be taking a vacation day on March 12th.  She works with a lot of men I guess.  Anyway, it got me thinking that God knew what he was doing when he created men and women with all of their diversities.  I'd like to think that Layne and I compliment each other pretty well.  I would NEVER want to be a man (that's probably a good thing).  But there are times that I'm envious of the things he can do because he's a man.....like open a jar of pickles without turning red in the face and having the kids cheer you on in the background.
Most of the men I know, are just overgrown boys.  They still have a bit of immature, irresponsible nature to them.  For example, Layne has decided that he's going to snowboard again and I'm going to learn how to downhill ski.  So he went and bought himself a new pair of snowboarding boots.  As soon as he got home, he put them on and strapped on his snowboard.  Then he was hopping around the living room to model them.  Eventually he headed out the backyard which unfortunately still has 8 -10 inches of snow in most places.  He proceeded to "snowboard" down the steps of the deck.  "Silly man" I thought.  Then he hopped onto one of our picnic benches on the deck and I thought "Crazy man".  No no, then he hopped ONTO the picnic table itself which came crashing down just as he pushed off down the steps.  He was soo PROUD of himself.  Yes, he's insane.  Yes, I love him dearly.

Yep. He definitely knew what he was doing! Sounds like something Marcus would do... If we had snow.
