I just finished reading The Guernsey Literary and Potao Peel Pie Society. Not only do I love the title, but I loved the book! The main character is a single writer with a great sense of humor. I felt like I related to her a lot...especially the part where she tells about her new cook book, "Will Thisbee gave me The Beginner's Cook-Book for Girl Guides. It was just the thing; the writer assumes you know nothing about cookery and writes useful hints -'When adding eggs, break the shells first.'" I laughed out loud at that!! Too funny.
The entire book is a bunch of letters to and from various people. At first it was a bit confusing trying to keep them all straight, but what a clever technique to really get each character's point of view. It is a historical fiction from the World War II era and after and made me think about how the war affected EVERYONE. It was inspiring and had a cute love story. It was a book I could relate to. I adored Juliet, the main character. I think I will have to read it again and again!!

Loved it too! I especially loved Isola the crazy lady!
I've read it. My favorite was Isola. I thought she would be a hoot to know. I also loved the part about the guy that read the obits everyday hoping to see certain people there. And it gave me a different perspective of the German soldiers.
P.S. Spring has arrived in Mesquite. Almost everything in my yard is blooming.
