The person celebrating their birthday MUST:
* Have gifts to unwrap (even if their spouse gave them their gift 2 weeks before)
* Wait to unwrap the gifts until dinner time.
* Have a cake with lit candles to blow out.
* Eat the first piece of cake that's cut.
Layne and I went out to dinner on Wednesday night to celebrate both of our birthdays. Then on Thursday, the kids insisted that I have a gifts and a cake. Matth and Kennedy were running around wrapping their artwork for me to open (cute). Matthew couldn't believe that I still had to take them to school and clean the house on my BIRTHDAY! I didn't have any eggs to make my cake, so I made the ice cream pie that was supposed to be for Layne's birthday. On Layne's birthday, we had the cake I finally got around to making. All in all, we had wonderful birthdays!! I guess I've trained my kids pretty well on how we celebrate around here.
