Kennedy has had a loose tooth for over 6 months now. It has been so loose that it was actually longer than her other teeth because the permanent tooth was trying to push it out! Even though Kennedy lost three teeth last year, she was "not ready" for this tooth on top to fall out. If Layne and I even mentioned her loose tooth, Kennedy would be in tears and say that she's just not ready for it to fall out!! Brushing her teeth every night has been a real treat because she doesn't want you to get near her loose tooth. Well, Wednesday evening, she was eating some pudding when suddenly she cried out, "My tooth, my tooth!" Her entire mouth was filled with blood and she was screaming and crying. I took her to the bathroom sink and she spit the blood out, but more kept coming. The tooth was barely hanging on. Kennedy was gagging like she was going to throw up because of all of the blood in her mouth. Finally we calmed her down and I grabbed the tooth with some gauze. That was all it took and the tooth came right out. After about 15 minutes of crying that she wasn't ready for that and saying it felt funny with no tooth, Kennedy was excited and ran to get her "tooth" necklace that she got at school a few weeks ago.

Here's Kennedy wearing her tooth necklace with her tooth inside. She took her tooth for show-and-tell today, but left the tooth fairy a note Wednesday night to inform her that her tooth would not be under her pillow until Friday night. I'm thinking the tooth fairy might need to leave something extra special under her pillow for being such a trooper AND maybe give some incentive to just yank the next loose tooth out instead of letting it bother her for the next 6 months!
Here's the other crazies.
