This past week Layne had a HORRIBLE cough and congestion. He thought maybe it was allergies. Then both Matthew and Kennedy started getting the sneezles, coughing and congestion. Poor Kennedy always gets it worse than anyone in the family plus she has bad allergies and asthma induced by cold-like symptoms. So, yesterday and today she declared it a "stay in your pajamas day" because she felt so sick. I thought she was just going to have her usual misery, sleepless nights and nebulizer treatments. Well, after giving her the 3rd nebulizer treatment and it seeming to have NO affect on her, I started thinking something might really be wrong. Then when she started coughing uncontrollably and crying that her chest hurt, I started getting concerned, but I kept thinking, "You get this sick like once a month, you should be used to feeling this way." Finally when she screamed, "Mom, something is wrong with me!" I realized that something really was wrong with her. (Please understand we had one of the top 10 worst nights last night in which every single child was up at some point for more than an hour during the night.......so my brain was NOT functioning very well.)
I called Layne and asked him to come and take her to the doctor. He did and 2 hours later they got home. Kennedy told me through sobs that she had to get a shot in each leg and Layne calmly said, "She has pneumonia and an ear infection." Probably a good thing he took her to the doctor and not me; I have a tendency to NOT be so calm about things like that. I guess her pneumonia isn't bad enough that she has to be hospitalized. We do have to take her back tomorrow and make sure she is doing better and not worse. Anyway, the good news is that in general Layne thinks that ALL doctors are out to get you and doesn't really like them. But I asked where he took her and he told me he took her to the urgent care, the doctor was some young guy who really knew his stuff. He said he was very impressed with him. I asked his name but Layne couldn't remember. When I went to give Kennedy her medicine, I noticed the name on the bottle, "Dr. Derek Campbell". It was my good friend's brother. Lately, I've been taking my kids there in hopes of getting him as the doctor, but he's not always there. I'm glad we could get some good help and it just feels better to feel like you know them or their family.
Hopefully Kennedy will start feeling back to her old self in the next few days. She is still so sweet even when she feels miserable. She is also just like her mother when it comes to pain....there is zero tolerance. She had to be carried to bed because she can't move her legs where they gave her the shots.......good thing she's so little!

Oh poor little Kennedy. I'm so sorry you are all so sick. I know what you mean about a good doctor. I have yet to find one here that I'm comfortable with, and that actually instills confidence when you talk to them. What kind of shots? Penicillin? I don't know what they do for pnemonia. Again, I'm sorry =0(. I hope everybody feels better soon.
I feel so bad for Kennedy, that's terrible! I feel bad for you and Layne too for losing sleep. Let me know if you need anything at all. Hope things improve quickly!
I hope she recovers quickly... how miserable!
Hope you feel better Princess. Happy birthday Matthew!!
