Top 10 Reasons I Love Being a Mom!

Me holding the birthday boy (Mattie-3-years-old)

A very sleepy Matthew Boy.

Hyrum...just over a year old.

Me (5 months pregnant with Hyrum), Kennedy and Matthew

1) I love watching my kids learn and grow. This past weekend Kennedy ran up to my room and said, "Today's my lucky day! I learned how to ride my bike without training wheels!" Layne has taken her 3 times and she really can ride without her training wheels. Last week I taught Matthew's Sunbeam class about the Sabbath day. Yesterday he prayed that the "Sabbath would stay holy."

2) I LOVE kissing my babies/kids chubby little cheeks! There's nothing like it.

3) I LOVE the belly laugh that little kids will do when you tickle them or play with them. It's very contagious.

4) I love getting compliments from my kids....you know they are being sincere. Matthew is always saying things like, "I love your new shirt, mom."

A hug from 2-year-old Matthew.

5) It is so fun to hear my kids point out things about nature....things that I take for granted or am too busy to notice. My kids have been sooo excited watching all of the flowers start to bloom and grow. Kennedy runs around singing, "Today is a wonderful day! Today is a wonderful day!" Hyrum finally said something that sounded like "dog" when he saw the neighbor's dogs. He was VERY excited!

6) I love getting hugs and snuggles from my kids all day long.....especially when they whisper, "I love you, Mom."

Kennedy meeting Matthew for the first time.

7) I love listening to the things they say....they are too funny. Right as we were leaving the WalMart the other day, Matt says, "Well, that was a rip off." I told Layne and he informed me that that is a quote from Napoleon Dynamite....what 3-year-old doesn't need to be watching that? Anyway, I still think it's funny that he used it in the right context.

Kennedy - 2 weeks old.

8) I love watching their eyes light up when they learn something new or are really excited about something. Yesterday we put Hyrum in Matthew's old cowboy boots. He was walking around as if he owned the world. He really got a kick out of walking on the wood floors and hearing his boots go "click, clack, click, clack". His eyes would light up and he would grin from ear to ear. When Layne got home from his meeting, Hyrum said, "Dad" and then pointed to his boots.

Hyrum....6-weeks-old.

9) I love listening to the ideas my kids have......I asked Kennedy what fun thing we should do the other day. She suggested that we invite Miss Sarah to our house so we could show her all of their toys. Miss Sarah is the librarian that does story time! Matthew randomly told me that for his birthday, which is 3 weeks away, he wants a "yittle baby sister".

10) I love being home with my kids....I love being the one they run to when they fall and get hurt or are feeling sick or sad. I love being there to hear all the funny things they say and to watch them play. I love being the one to read to them or take them on a walk. I love to make cookies with them. It's all the little moments that make being a mom worth it. I wouldn't miss it for the world!

P.S. I put photos of me and my babies....I HATE photos of myself, but I do want my kids to see their mom with them.....I think I only have one photo of my mom holding me (okay, maybe 2). We moms seem to be the ones taking the photos. Anyway, it seems funny since we are with our kids 24/7 and yet we have very little proof of it.
