You Know Your Family Has Been Sick for TOO Long When...

  • You haven't cooked a REAL meal for more than two weeks because you're just too tired.
  • You don't recognize your kids if they DON'T have a snotty, green nose.
  • You DO recognize all the pharmacists/doctors and feel like you're becoming friends.
  • You don't need to look on the side of the ibuprofen bottle to see how much to give an 18-month-old that weighs 28-30 pounds.
  • You can come within a tenth of a degree at estimating your child's temperature just by kissing them on the forehead.
  • Whenever anyone sneezes you think, "Here we go again," and prepare for the worst.
  • Your 18-month-old gladly puts the nebulizer mask on himself because he's done it so many times and knows it helps him feel better.
  • You don't dare go anywhere without a bunch of tissues.

Yes, we have all been sick AGAIN!! Poor Hyrum had a snotty-nose for over a week....then I started feeling pressure in my ears, so we went to the doctor. I had a sinus infection and they thought Hyrum did too, so we're back on the antibiotics. Kennedy played 3 t-ball games and went to one practice, but then woke up yesterday with a sore throat. I'm most nervous about her since she just got over pneumonia and she tends to get EVERYTHING. When I took her back in for a check-up this week to make sure the pneumonia was completely gone, the doctor mentioned the possibility that she may have a little acid reflux and that could be contributing to her asthma/allergy problems. So, she will be taking some milk of magnesia a few times a week to see if it helps. I'm pretty willing to try anything at this point.

As for my sob story.....although I wasn't feeling quite well, I still ran the 5K on Saturday with my friend, Josie....probably not the best idea. Layne was sweet enough to take the kids grocery shopping so I could rest. The only problem was that I couldn't rest because every time I relaxed, I had a coughing fit. We had planned to go out that night and had a babysitter lined up and everything and I could tell Layne was excited to get out of the house, so I still got ready and we went to dinner. I was sorely disappointed when I could NOT taste any of my meal because I was so stuffed up and the raspberry lemonade may as well have been a harsh cleaning chemical because it burned so bad going down. I was literally trying to to suck on something or drink some water the entire time to avoid one of those humiliating coughing fits where everyone around you thinks you're dying.

One last tidbit that really makes me laugh...I had given Layne a grocery list on Saturday and when he got home he showed me two bars of "Coast" soap. Then he asks if that was the "coast" I was talking about on my list. I was baffled. I hadn't written "coast" on the list at all. So he brings the list. I had written "Roast". Apparently to him, the capital R looked like a lower-case k which spelled "koast". The poor guy searched high and low and found the closest thing he could........"coast" soap. The really sad part is that the "roast" was going to be for Father's Day. Well, I ended up sleeping almost the entire day on Sunday, so I think we had noodles or something. However, on one of our MANY outings to the WalMart pharmacy, I was able to pick up a ROAST and I made it last night. I'm thinking Layne deserves "Best Husband of the Week" award or something.......we'll have to do something fun as soon as we all feel better.
