I can't believe that October is almost over!! I love October for the leaves falling and the ringing in the holiday season. I have always enjoyed Halloween and watching the kids get so excited to wear their costumes. Kennedy asked me the other day what the true meaning of Halloween is and I told her it really was all about candy, dressing up and having fun! She seemed pretty thrilled at the idea of a holiday JUST for fun!!
Layne carved a pumpkin with the kids yesterday. They couldn't believe how slimy it was. I will try and post the video of what Hyrum thought of the whole experience......he just learned how to say "EWWW" and his face said it all as you can see in the first photo.
I also love October because that is generally when the kids do the Primary Program. My kids did fabulous....although I only got to see the backs of their heads as I was sitting with the Primary up on the stand too. It was a great day until we were leaving the church. I think Matt was excited to be done, he ran out onto the grass, tripped and landed on his face!! He has a scraped up nose and a bruised head. He bawled and bawled and we tried to console him. Suddenly, he asked if Santa would still bring him presents if he cried. We told him, that Santa would still bring presents and he said, "but the song says 'you better not cry'." Funny what kids think of. :)
Speaking of kids saying funny things, the other day, we were in the craft room when Kennedy started complaining that Hyrum was getting into all of her stuff. I started reminding her how blessed we are to have Hyrum with us and asked her what we would do without him. I thought she would agree that it's nice to have Hyrum around. Instead she said, "Mom, I think Hyrum would be just fine with any parents." Thank you Kennedy!! She went on to say that he was just used to being with us and that if he were with other parents he would get used to them and be fine with them too. Wow, nothing like being humbled by a child!

Mel, I can just see your kids on the old TV show, "Kids say the darndest things." It's amazing what comes out of your children's mouths! PROFOUND When I saw the first photo of Hyrum I just knew what he was saying. His face says it all! Can't wait to see you, all. Judy
