Here's What We are Up To...

First, I HAD to change the photo on the top of my blog....that family photo was driving me batty, I don't know, just sick of looking at it. I'm super excited because for my BIRTHDAY, my little family is getting family photos taken. Mind you, we have NEVER had professional photos (well once when Kennedy was 4 months old...what a joke and once at Wal-Mart when K was 2 and Matt was 6 months...again, what a joke!) A girl in my ward is going to take them later this month. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high as it seems when I actually plan something and get overly excited, for some reason it doesn't work out. Anyway, Layne HATES photos, in spite of the fact that he is super photogenic (gag) but since it's for my birthday, he's consented. Hmmm...what will it be like getting family photos without someone (that would be ME) running to hit the button on the tripod and then running to be by the family. Maybe the kids will actually look at the camera because there will be SOMEONE behind it. I'm excited; wish us luck!

So, here's what I LOVE about the new blog photo at the top............well, you probably already know.....CUTE, CUTE, CUTE. What is it about little boys in dress shirts and diapers? Love the chunky legs and the fact that he is BLOWING on the snail. Too funny. It just makes me smile.

Now for what we've been up to...what HAVEN'T we been up to!! Hyrum is growing by leaps and bounds....he's cutting molars right now....not fun! But, he's not quite 2 and it just wouldn't be normal if one of our children cut 2-year molars AFTER they were 2....we are over-achievers when it comes to teeth!

Matthew has struggled with some crazy behavior the past few months. CRAZY is code for unacceptable, naughty, outrageous or defiant. Anyway, I finally took him to the pediatrician a few weeks ago. He hadn't been sleeping well, complaining of constant headaches and just plain irritable! The pediatrician thinks he is suffering from migraines. So, he put him on a very low dose of a med to break the cycle of the migraine. Layne was very leery at first, but I have to say that there is a direct correlation between his behavior and the days he has headaches or not. He has been so much better the past week. HOORAY...he is still a 4-year-old boy, but he is my Matthew again! He even goes to bed at night even if he took a nap that day AND he's able to nap again! Ah! Life is good.

Kennedy just got a new bike...it's really for her birthday, but she needed a bigger bike now (she was riding the same bike she got when she was 3) and frankly it could be REALLY snowy by the time her birthday rolls around in November, so she got it today! She was VERY worried that on her actual birthday she wouldn't get any gifts. I asked her what else she wanted for her birthday and she said "a my little pony" (We're talking $5 here folks!) I told her that she could probably still get a my little pony and maybe even a few other small things, just nothing HUGE because she just got her bike.

I was able to go to a teacher conference last Thursday and my sweet mom came to watch the kids! It was a weird conference, but so nice to get out of the house and mingle with other adults. I even saw an uncle, aunt, cousin and friend. It's great to be back in Idaho. I have been fiddling with jewelry making....I'll post some photos if I get a chance, cutting out costume patterns (I know, WHAT AM I THINKING? I get a wild hair one day and feel all energetic about sewing and then life happens and I think "hope I get around to sewing those!"), canning peaches, picking apples to can and CLEANING. I do far to much of the latter lately and it seems no matter how much I clean, the place still looks like a mess.

Well, that's about all for now. I made it through September. Sigh. I got Kennedy to school on time for 4 weeks and NEVER forgot to pick her up either!! Now only 33 weeks to go!

Looks like you have been busy. I want some pictures of the jewelry making. You are ambitious, way to go. By the way, I am taking my blog private in the next few days, so pop on over and leave me your email if you would like.

Take care and we really need to get together, it is awful we live so close and never see each other.

I love it, Layne and Justin are so alike. SO I am so sorry that Layne is like Justin with the picture thing. Ugh, its rather frustrating isn't it? Like having another child to worry about (like you aren't worring enough to get THEM to smile, but you have to encourage and MAKE your own hubs smile....?) Lame. I have many many pics of us where justin is the one who "ruined" the pic by closing his mouth or something lame... the things we put up with, good thing they are cute huh?
I love love love that photo on top! :)

Hey there busy lady,
When are you getting family pics? Also, what else is on your birthday list besides socks? :)
