Halloween Fun

You can double click on these to make them bigger!

The kids had fun trick-or-treating and since the older ones had already gone trunk-or-treating on Friday night, we only had to hit a few houses and they were done!

I know it's hard to tell what Hyrum is.....he needed a much bushier tail.....but he was Max from "Where the Wild Things Are" making mischief of one kind and another!

Kennedy was Wonder Woman and enjoys striking a pose!

Matthew was an astronaut and I'm so glad he actually wore the costume. It's hard to say what Matt will or won't wear these days.

Sewing is a learning experience for me and here is what I learned while making costumes:
- I should NOT sew when I'm tired (I make all kinds of ridiculous mistakes)
- You cannot hot glue velcro onto fabric and expect it to stick (although an employee at Jo Ann's told me that I could)
- When you get the iron-velcro and it tells you to use a VERY hot iron and steam.....you should DO that for the best results (however, it will melt satin!)
- I need to invest in a craft iron and ironing board cover as my iron and ironing board now has melted satin, felt and glitter all over it and I'm thinking next time Layne irons one of his white shirts with it I will be in big trouble! (Yes, I said, "next time Layne irons".......I am a horrible wife!)
- I prefer McCall's pattern directions over Butterick's they are more thorough and make more sense for a novice like myself.
-McCall's patterns tend to run big, Butterick's seem to run small.
-It was a good idea to begin this undertaking 2 months ago as life happens and every spare moment counts (I finished Hyrum's costume TODAY, October 31st at 2:45 p.m.)
